Researchers have developed a chitosan-based magnetic gel to address water pollution caused dyes. The study focuses on removing the azo dye Direct Red 83:1 from water. The gel, synthesized with chitosan and iron, exhibits a porous structure and excellent thermal stability. Its adsorption capacity for the dye is 17.46 mg/g, following pseudo-second-order kinetics and fitting the Temkin isotherm model. This innovative solution is promising for industrial wastewater treatment due to its high efficiency and easy magnetic separation of purified water.
